it was december 2024.

Life writes stories, so it did with this one. I (Dali) visited Jimena in Vigo. Having had gone through a very difficult period of my life, I needed a break, a getaway, to get lost and just breathe. Jimena offered me her home and company, so I went, without thinking much about it. It turned out to be the best 10 days of the whole year. We spent time travelling through Galicia, watching sunsets together and talking. It was one of those feelings you get around people whose hearts are similar to yours. When you can speak in the language of your heart.

We spoke about creativity, art, about the world that has gone mad, fast and in many ways lost it’s magic (and sometimes logic too). After few days we figured out - why wouldn’t we create a space for those similar to us, who need to hit a break, slow down, come back to themselves and awaken creativity inside? There must be other people like us out there. And that’s how Creative Awakening was born. In the middle of Galicia, somewhere between two sunsets and two hearts of two dreamers.

Even though we are both photographers, we didn’t want to create another (wedding) photography workshop. We believe there are plenty of those, and plenty of great ones! We thought it would be great to create a space where we can all awaken the child in us, the playfulness, the wonderers that we all have in our selves. A space where we can all just BE. Where we can talk about life in all sorts of abstract ways and inspire each other to be whoever we want to be.

And that’s the beauty of Life, isn’t it? To find yourself. To be yourself. To allow yourself. To grow.

There are many ways to feel lost. You may feel disconnected from your voice or doubt where it lies, but that voice never left; we just unlearned how to listen to it. We put up walls to our creativity, building a hamster wheel that works for us, that brings us money. We work by repeating a formula we invented, allowing us to take on more jobs, and we stop striving to change that comfort zone, to fight for our own originality. But we are original; we have a voice. And sometimes, perhaps all it takes is a push to break our beliefs and step out of our circle.
